What are we doing?

We are planning an outdoor memorial for Brad on January 8th at 6pm in front of our home at 169 Irving Avenue in Ottawa. The boys and I thought we could do a special ceremony where everyone would have a candle lit in his memory. We would ask that everyone bring their candle, perhaps in a glass to protect it from any wind.

Also, if you like, you can write on a piece of paper anything you would have wanted to tell Brad, wishes for his next journey, or simply your feelings about his passing… each bubble (family, couple, etc) will be invited to come up to a cauldron to burn the message as a means of sending it to him and releasing some heavy feelings. These messages are for your eyes only, and Brad’s. Please dress warmly and wear masks. All are welcome to attend. Please forward this email along to those you think may want to attend as I don’t have email addresses for everyone.

For those who cannot attend, we’d love for you to do a similar ceremony at home. Light a candle, burn a message, say a word if you like.

Once Covid let’s up, we’ll have a celebration of life at one of our favourite restaurants where we can gather to have a drink in his honour, tell stories, laugh, and cry together. A date will be chosen as soon as it makes sense and we will forward those details along.

The boys and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your kind messages, meals, hugs and support of all kinds. We love you all.
