I’m Having Trouble Uploading

Updated 1 month ago

Almost every upload problem comes down to one of a few things. Work down this list and you'll usually find it.

First, check the file

  • Format — we accept .mp4, .mov, .wmv, .avi, .mkv, .webm, .flv, .mpeg, .3gp and .ogg.
  • Size — 4 GB maximum.
  • Length — the video must be longer than two seconds.
  • Dimensions — more than 180 pixels wide and tall.
  • Sound — the file must have an audio track.

If one of these is the problem, we tell you before the upload starts.

“Your video is missing an audio track”

This is the most common one. Screen recordings, animations converted to video, and some app exports have no sound at all. Record again with your microphone switched on.

The upload starts but never finishes

  • Keep the window open and the screen awake. Closing the tab or letting the phone sleep stops the upload.
  • Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data — whichever you're not on.
  • Try another browser. Chrome and Safari are the most reliable.
  • Turn off a VPN or ad blocker and try again.

Nothing happens when you choose a file

Your browser may be blocking access to your camera or your files. Open your browser's site settings for tribute.co and allow both.

A very large file

A 4 GB video takes a long time on a home connection. Trim it on your phone before you upload, or record at a lower quality setting.

Still stuck

Email support@tribute.co. Tell us your device, your browser, and the name of the file. If you saw an error message, copy it in — it tells us exactly where it failed.
