You decide who can see your Tribute at every stage. Two settings do the work — Password and Party Mode — and both live in Settings, in the panel on the right of your Tribute page.
Password: locks the whole page
One password covers everything at your Tribute link:
- the collection page while you're gathering videos
- the media grid
- the finished video after you deliver it
- the download link
Anyone without it sees This Tribute is Private and a password box. See what that looks like.
Set it early, or set it late
Early — if the Tribute itself is the secret. A surprise party, a memorial, anything you don't want stumbled upon. Turn the password on before you send invitations and the page is protected from the first day of collection right through to delivery.
Late — if you were happy for people to find the collection page, but you don't want the finished video sitting in the open. You can turn the password on at any point, including after your Tribute has been delivered.
Either way it's the same setting: Settings → Privacy → Password protect this Tribute, type a password, then Save Settings. Full steps are in How to Add/Edit a Tribute Video Password.
Worth knowing. The links we email — invitations, reminders, and the “your Tribute is ready” message — unlock the page automatically, so your guests never have to type the password. That also means forwarding one of those emails passes on access. A link you copy yourself from the share button carries no password, so send that one along with the password.
Party Mode: who can watch the videos arrive
Party Mode is on by default. With it on, anyone who opens your Tribute link can watch the videos as they come in — which is lovely for a countdown to a party, and not what you want for a surprise.
Turn it off and the media grid becomes visible to you alone. Guests can still record and upload as normal; they just can't see what anyone else sent.
To change it: Settings → Tribute Options → Party Mode, then Save Settings.
You never have to guess which state you're in. The line beside the MEDIA heading on your Tribute page always says Visible to everyone or Only visible to you, and clicking it takes you straight to the setting.
Who gets the finished video
When you click Deliver, you choose how the finished Tribute reaches people:
- Share it for me — give us the recipient's email address (or several), pick a delivery date, time and timezone, and we send it then. Tick Share with participants? and everyone who contributed a video gets the link as well.
- I'll share it — we send nothing at all. You get the link and share it however you want.
You can change your mind afterwards in Settings → Tribute Options → Share When Finished?
Your footage stays yours
You own everything collected in your Tribute. We never use it publicly without your direct consent.
