Trimming cuts the dead air off the front and back of a clip — the walk to the camera at the start, the reach to stop recording at the end.
Trim a clip
- Click Edit Media in the right-hand panel.
- Click the thumbnail of the clip you want to trim.
- Click Trim.
- You'll see a bar representing the whole clip. Drag the handle at either end to move where it starts and finishes. The duration updates as you drag, so you can see exactly what you're left with.
- Play it back, then click Save.
Nothing is destroyed
Trimming hides the ends of a clip; it doesn't delete them. Come back at any point and drag the handles back out.
Trim the same clip two different ways
Duplicate it first, then trim each copy differently — useful for opening with a line from a message you play in full later. See How to Duplicate a Video.
Getting a long Tribute down
